The new Chevy Camaro is being released to dealers nationwide. Though this muscle car is known worldwide for its styling and power, we thought we would take a trip down memory lane. Looking back at the Chevy Camaro history, it’s no wonder this car has become so popular over the years.
According to Forbes, this is the sixth-generation Camaro to be available in the US. Dating back to 1967, this pony car remains one of the most popular of its kind. After 49 years there are some surprising changes, as well as some retro throwbacks.
“The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be in dealer showrooms in a matter of weeks and leading up to that, a lot of the automotive media will be driving the latest version of Chevy’s storied muscle car in a multi-week rally that will bring the sixth-generation Camaro to the streets in each of the 48 contiguous United States,” said Bill Visnic, auto writer for Forbes.
By the second generation, Camaro had a distinct ‘70s look with a new F-body platform. Third-generations were boxy and powerful, with fuel injection, Turbo Hydromatic transmissions and more. The IROC Camaro became famous for gearheads around the globe.
While the fourth- and fifth-generation models introduced modern power and retro designs, the sixth-generation Camaro has an available supercharged engine, high-tech transmission, and the latest in in-vehicle connectivity. Get it here at Carl Hogan when it arrives.
