fuel efficiency on the 2015 Yukon Denali

Driving a full-size SUV can often leave your wallet feeling a little empty after you fill up your gas tank. But owners of the 2015 GMC Yukon Denali will be able to keep a little more money in their pockets, thanks to the Yukon Denali’s new eight-speed transmission.

With the new Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission, the fuel efficiency on the 2015 Yukon Denali increases to 22 mpg on the highway for two-wheel drive models. City mileage for the four-wheel drive Yukon Denali also gets bumped up to 15 mpg.

Even with improved fuel efficiency, the Yukon Denali’s capabilities are not compromised. In fact, the new transmission can handle more torque than the outgoing six-speed transmission and has smoother and quicker shift times. The Yukon Denali will still be able to tow up to 8,400 pounds and the Yukon XL Denali maintains its 8,100-pound tow rating.

In addition to the new transmission, the 2015 Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali get a new hands-free power liftgate that drivers can open simply by moving their foot under the bumper—so no more wrangling small children or shopping bags while trying to open the liftgate!
