GM has proven in a really big way that it is a highly principled company. GM was recently rated according to its actions on climate change disclosure, and the results show that GM has made transparency and concern for environmental impact is a top priority.
GM Authority reports that the GM climate disclosure earned perfect scores according to CDP, “the world’s only global environmental disclosure system.” In the 2014 S&P 500 Climate Change Report, the CDP recognized GM as being one of the biggest corporations sensitive to climate change.
Comments by GM CEO Mary Barra only served to reiterate GM’s role as a leader in climate issues. She stated, “Our customers expect us to help mitigate, if not eliminate, issues such as congestion and pollution.” She outlined a couple of specific initiatives that GM is pursuing, such as “expanded use of renewable energy” and “a ‘zero-waste’ mindset.”
