When making your New Year’s resolutions this year, don’t forget to consider vehicle maintenance goals.
Change the Oil
Oil plays three major roles in the engine block: lubricate, cool, and protect. The engine is comprised of fast-moving parts that can damage one another if they aren’t properly lubricated. Fresh oil obviously performs its jobs better than old oil. Additionally, old oil can strain and potentially damage your vehicle’s engine, since it doesn’t protect the cooler parts of the engine, provide adequate lubrication, or remove excess heat.
Check the Tire Pressure
Drivers who neglect their vehicle’s tires can experience a rough driving quality and reduced fuel economy. Avoid this by regularly inspecting the tires for uneven wear and other abnormalities. Make sure to check the tire pressure once a week to maximize fuel economy, prevent blowouts, and provide a smoother ride.
Drive More Efficiently
Saving money is a common New Year’s resolution. Driving more efficiently is one small way to move closer to this goal. Aggressive driving is not just a safety hazard, but can result in reduced fuel economy. By driving the speed limit and accelerating gradually, you can conserve fuel and save money at the pump.
