Recent comments by GM’s product chief make it very clear that the design of the upcoming sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro took its own unique path. Mark Ruess set the record straight when he said, “We did the car way before the new Mustang came out.”
No one would ever suspect or accuse Chevy of following in another automaker’s footsteps, especially when it comes to the Camaro. Chevy (nor the Camaro) would have ever made it this far if they were a bunch of copycats.
So what happens when Chevy conceives the new Camaro in-house and from the ground up? What we know so far is very little. GM Authority makes an educated guess that Chevy might opt to forego a four-cylinder model completely, if they really want to go a different direction than Ford. Perhaps a V8 is in the works!
The latest Chevrolet Camaro is due to debut at a very special event on May 16th.
