Thanks to the new Maps+ in-vehicle app, finding your next summer road trip destination is about to become a whole lot easier.
Maps+ features easy-to-use voice commands powered by Amazon Alexa. This intelligent app learns your frequented locations, offers shortcuts for finding relevant points of interest, notifies you if you’re running low on gas, and alerts you to upcoming road hazards or delays. It’ll even find the fastest route based on current traffic reports.
According to Santiago Chamorro, GM vice president of Global Connected Services, the automaker created the app based on customer demand, and designed the software to work seamlessly within the current infotainment system.
GM developed Maps+ in collaboration with Mapbox. “The map is the canvas for providing the driver with a delightful, easy-to-use experience,” stated the CEO of Mapbox, Peter Sirota. “From discovering new places to avoiding traffic on your commute to paying at the pump or the plug, Maps+ lays the foundation for an excellent navigation experience.
You’ll be able to access Maps+ on select compatible GM models from the 2018 model year and newer. In order to access the handy new app, you’ll need a Connected Vehicle subscription plan.
